Vacation Reading Club is Almost Here!
Vacation Reading Club
2008 is just around the corner and this year's VRC will be
the biggest and best yet! Expect to see some great Terrific
Thursdays with acts like Okefenokee Joe and the Birds of
Prey show. Sign-ups begin on the 20th of this month with a
gala Kick-Off event on the 29th!Click

On January 18, 1938 the Baldwin County Public
Library opened its doors to the public. Seventy years later, we're
still going strong, bringing the best information service possible
to the citizens of Baldwin County! 2008 will see us celebrating all
year long with special events that will remind you why the library
is such a vital part of the county's cultural community.

We had a special ceremony on January 18, 2008 that featured
several important guests, including: Mayor Richard Bentley, Deputy
State Librarian David Singleton, Milledgeville Mainstreet Director
Heather Holder and County Commission Chairman Bobby Blizzard. A full

April is Stress Awareness Month
With how busy all our lives are these days, stress
seems to continually build up. It's important to recognize what's
causing us stress and take steps to alleviate it. We have plenty of
books for organizing your daily activities and making your life as
stress-free as possible!

The Rook Takes Flight
Library Director
Barry Reese has just released his newest work, The Rook: Volume
One. Barry's been published over thirty times, with most of his
work appearing for Marvel Comics and small press publisher Wild Cat
Books. This new volume reprints previously published novellas
"Lucifer's Cage" and "Kingdom of Blood" alongside three new stories
- "The Gasping Death," "Abominations" and "The Black Mass."
Featuring exciting pulp adventure, The Rook: Volume One is
currently in the collection at both Mary Vinson Memorial Library and
the Lake Sinclair Library.
Barry will be the featured speaker at an Author Event to be held May
17, from 1 pm - 3 pm!
