TLLS receives Knight Foundation Grant

The Twin Lakes Library System has received some good news: The Knight Foundation has approved its grant request and will be helping us in upgrading our computing resources at the Mary Vinson Memorial Library. We'll be adding computers for the public to use, boosting our wireless network's strength and reliability and also creating a Mobile Computing Lab that will take our computing resources out into the community. We'll be partnering on some of these new initiatives with Digital Bridges, forging community partnerships that should help our library patrons in innovative ways.

Prepare for the New Library Blog!

The Library Blog has been a great way for our patrons to stay abreast of events at the library but with the changeover of the website, the blog will be altering its purpose a bit. Beginning 9/12/09 the blog will have themed days:

  • Monday will be Children's Services day and will feature blog entries from Anne Moore and crew.
  • Tuesday will feature Amber Hightower's Lake Sinclair updates.
  • Wednesday features Christy Bates and the Allen Library's news.
  • Thursday sees Kell Carpenter and the Reference crew sharing their news and notes.
  • Library Fair Entertainment!

The 29th Annual Library Fair will be here before you know it! Scheduled for September 19 from 9 am to 2 pm, this year's Fair will have all the usual family fun: lots of used books, good food, plants, yard sale items, baked goods and some great entertainment. The Old Capital Cloggers will be back to dance their way into your hearts and famed magician and comedian Ken Scott will be performing, as well! Please make plans to come out and support your public library!

    September Board Meeting Postponed

The Board of Trustees Board Meeting scheduled for September has been postponed. Items on the September agenda will instead be taken up at the next scheduled meeting: October 14, 2009.

    The Changes Keep Coming!

We'll be making some changes to the Library Blog in the days to come, giving you a new insight into the working of your public library. Keep your eyes tuned to this website for all the details.

Security cameras have been installed at all three library locations -- this increased security is for the benefit of our patrons and will hopefully make everyone feel safer while visiting the library.

Rest assured that everything we do is designed to make our facilities and website easier, safer and more fun for you to use!
